Twitter Me Trendy

I know people think Twitter is overrated, but Twitter and I are in love. Honestly I could live with out it, but I get such tasty little bits of information that make me happy inside and out that I choose not to.

For instance I am following Cyanatrendland, a twitter account linked with one of the best fashion/trend blogs I have ever experienced, Trend Land. I always check out what they are tweeting because most of the time I love what I see. Today my fashion heart skipped a beat when I saw these dresses. They are exactly the kind of thing I wish I could wear on a day to day basis. They are so beautifully and creatively constructed. They come out of an editorial called "Acid Reign" by Patrick Demarchelier.

This orange organza dress is by Christopher Kane, Painted crystal necklace, Tom Binns, shoes, John Galliano. This ensemble is so perfect for an editorial and it's still something that I would love to wear because A: orange looks awesome on me and B: it is so darn cute!! The flowyness of the dress paired with the circular details are an absolute dream!

This next dress is so fierce it's out of control. The color combination is spot on. The crystal/white detail gives it a classy rock star edge and the way it is gathered is absolutely incredible. Normally I'm not a big fan of the one random shoulder strap but I think it works half way for this dress.
Dress by Balmain, patent leather and crystal sandals by Christian Louboutin for Giles Silver and diamond bangles by all Hot Diamonds.

Go follow Cyanatrendland on twitter, check out Patrick Demarchelier's beautiful photography, and go grab a British VOGUE if you can, if not check out VOGUE.com UK.

Barbie at Fashion Week

I wish I could have been in NYC to see all of this wonderful walking art but alas I was stuck in Ohio in the snow. ( or yuck fest 2009 as I like to call it) But I have been watching from afar.

I personal think the barbie fashion show is way too cute for words and was a really good move on Barbie's part. Some of the outfits...not such a good move. Let's talk about this one, shal we?

What is Barbie suppose to be here? When I asked this question in class a sarcastic boy offered that " Maybe she's a pretty pretty fairy." Maybe, but crack addict more accurately describes what she looks like. I don't understand the strange see through cape that has two clear mountains as shoulders and a random black trim around the bottom of it. What is that all about? And then the gloves, they look like something Marilyn Manson might wear. Are just her fingers cold?
What is the patent belt around the waste.... how does that add anything to this dress? How is a thin patent belt ever a good idea for anything? Especially if it doesn't have belt loops.

The dress it's self it cute and simple but all the other random crap hanging off of this poor woman it so strange it makes the room spin just thinking about it. It's really not appropriate for barbie or anyone else for that matter.

So that was really bad and I don't think I'll ever recover.

There were some really cute things in the show and this one is my fave. It's very flirty and girly and a little on the side of fantasy. A real life person might actually find an event to wear the dress to and Carrie Bradshaw would probably weare it to the bank! I think it's a good representation of what the show was trying to acomplish. Barbie in things that work in pretend barbie land, but things that could transfer to the real world as well.

I love Barbie and I'm not afraied to say it. She has been a style icon since she showed up and I hope she continues to make good wardrobe decisions and burns the clear cape as soon as she gets the chance.

Welcome!!

Hey friends!!

Welcome to my blog. I'm really excited about getting this started and hope you will all enjoy what ever ends up on this page. Hopefully it will have something to do with my love of fashion, music and anything else I find interesting.

I spent a good amount of time figuring out what to call this blog, and I'm happy I did. Maglietta is the Italian word for t-shirt. And when it comes down to it I'm classy and cute but in the end I'm simple and low maintenance and never go out of style :P (and I'm Italian) hope you enjoy!!

Cheers,

JoJo
